Vision 2012
By Pastor Steve
This week’s Worship Focus is about “vision.” How appropriate.
See. Abide. Understand. Agree. These are the utilities of vision. In worship we have the task of seeing the world and our lives as God sees them. We practice abiding in Christ by renewing our resolve to obey His commands and love what and who He loves. We seek to understand the Word as it reveals the truth. We desire to agree with the Spirit and submit to Him in the mission that Christ has given to us.
O LORD, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked wonders, Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness” (Isaiah 25:1). ”Have you not heard? Long ago I did it, From ancient times I planned it” (Isaiah 37:26).
Vision is alignment with the plans of God. The plan of God is ancient; we don’t have to reinvent the wheel or come up with a new plan – Worship is our vision adjuster, like contact lenses, glasses or LASIK surgery. What is fuzzy outside of worship is made clear in worship.
The Father decreed the plan. The Son laid the groundwork and provided the means for the plan. The Spirit implements the plan using the church. Vision places us firmly in the path of the plan. The Spirit accomplishes the plan of God by using the people of God, the church, as the vehicle. So, today in worship we seek the Spirit as He guides us to the Vision of God: Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law. (Psa 119:18)
