Hand in hand with our desire to know details of future things goes our deep need to be in control, to have a sense of control that comes with knowledge.  When we lack knowledge we have insecurity and doubt.  When it comes to “big” issues, this can be especially disconcerting.  When we lack knowledge we have a tendency to supply details, even if we have no basis for doing so.  It fits with the adage that “nature abhors a vacuum”, we want to fill in the blank spaces.  This is especially true with information that we have about heaven and life after death.  We seek details, God withholds them.

Today we will explore the question:  Why is God stingy with details about heaven and the afterlife?
